A few years ago I created my “Before I’m 30” bucket list. It went something like this: run a marathon and write a book. Well I’ve run two marathons, and with two more on the way this year, there’s that whole book thing to take care of. Sure, my deadline is over four years away, but this is a novel, not a term paper. I don’t think I should wait until the night before and still expect greatness.

I’ve had multiple blogs over the last 6 years and this one has been my favorite to maintain, even though I didn’t do much writing here. I have a lot of respect for the art of blogging and the process of curation. To really do it well, you’ve gotta understand your audience. I now know most people prefer very few words and lots of pictures – or better yet, pictures with a few words on them that feature cats in compromising positions or conflated stereotypes. Oh internet, you cray.

Which reminds me, will people soon read books anymore? I better get moving.

Take care of each other kids and dream big. Life is a lovely thing.

Developed by international ad agency bbdo for the umino seaweed shop, design nori is a series of intricately laser-cut seaweed for rolling sushi. Each sheet of five designs— sakura (cherry blossoms), mizutama (water drops), asanoha (hemp), kikkou (turtle shell), and kumikkou (tortoise shell)— is based on an element of Japanese history or symbology, meant to bring beauty, good fortune, growth, happiness, and longevity. Because of the precision required in the cutting process, the seaweed itself is a thicker variety from the sanriku region of miyagi. Umino plans to use the leftover clippings to sell as furikake topping or recompile into other sheets. The project was commissioned to respark the sale of nori following the tsunami in japan of 2011, at a time when umino director hiroyuki umino notes that japanese are eating less seaweed than in the past.

Not all Monday mornings are created equal.

Mine started at 5 am with my neighbor claiming his roommate assaulted him. No one appeared hurt, but the cops were called nonetheless.

Took the early wake up call as a chance to go for a morning run. Was really feeling it until mile 3, when I dropped my phone and shattered the screen – and my Patriots iPhone case. The horror.

Alright so leave apt and throw good song on the iPod, make it to subway and somehow get distracted by great song – run straight into turnstyle without swiping card. We’re talking full blown, bend in half run in. People see. People laugh. Moving on.

So I find myself next at Whole Foods picking up my overpriced juices for the final cleanse before Vegas. Sipping my green juice, walking to work, feeling good, great heels, crisp white shirt…you know where this is going right?

One witnessed crime, Verizon insurance deductible, bruised ego and sullied shirt later, here we are on another Monday morning in the office. Thankfully, the internetz can cheer me up. And you too, of course.
