A few blocks from an explosion a girl is getting drunk at the bar. Two couples are having dinner (sushi) and unaware the world is blowing up. A baby in a third floor walk-up is toying with the idea of never sleeping again.

The difference between close and far away is a matter of inches.

The news is in a tailspin. Someone, somehow, is fumbling with his words, trying to explain what has happened and why. But because this is something that cannot be easily explained or understood, nobody stops to listen for too long.

It isn't out of apathy. It's just survival.
